Mayor Marco McClendon
As West Memphis’ youngest elected black mayor, Marco McClendon is the 13th Mayor of West Memphis, came into office in 2019 after serving on the city council for 16 years. An alum of ASU Mid-South and graduate from West Memphis High School, Mayor McClendon began his career in public service in 2003 as the youngest elected council member in the state of Arkansas. He has served and supported a number of state and local organizations including the Non-Profit 2000 board and many others.
During his tenure as a councilman and now mayor, he wrote and sponsored the West Memphis Gun Buy Back Program, Initiated in the purchase of the city’s first 3 sky cops, placed resource officers in every school, Youth summer jobs initiative, and many more.
Mayor McClendon is truly the voice for the citizens of West Memphis.
Now that Mr. McClendon has become mayor, he has set a NEW standard of excellence for West Memphis. There is a rejuvenation of energy throughout the city, with over $500 million worth of infrastructure being built in the city, include two new fire stations with police substation, all new State-of-the-Art Library and innovation center and Courthouse, West Memphis is now moving forth and is truly on a winning streak under his direction.
